We’re Ben and Martina Jensen, the heart behind Roots & Meadows. As a family-oriented couple with incredible children and a spoiled fur baby, we love exploring the world. We've traveled to nearly every U.S. state and are eager to embark on international adventures.
Our journey together has been one of growth, resilience, and a shared passion for helping others. After starting our family, we returned to school together and discovered that not only did we work well as a team, but we thrived when combining our strengths. Naturally, this led us to build a business rooted in our collective expertise.
Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Lock Haven University and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. His therapeutic journey began at a behavioral hospital in Utah, where he gained three years of experience before moving to Washington State to manage a county crisis response team. In this role, Ben collaborated with law enforcement and medical professionals to ensure the mental and physical safety of community residents. His commitment to mental health expanded further when he specialized in Neurofeedback therapy, working closely with school districts in California to support struggling youth.
Currently, Ben is pursuing his PhD in Human Sexuality with a focus on Sex Therapy, further expanding his expertise in mental health, relationships, and holistic wellness. His passion for education and helping others drives him to continuously seek knowledge that can make a meaningful impact on people's lives.
Before his career in mental health, Ben gained a diverse range of life experiences through both blue-collar and white-collar jobs, including military service (Army infantry and counterintelligence), law enforcement, postal work, construction, retail, and management. This hands-on experience has shaped him into a well-rounded, empathetic counselor with a deep understanding of different walks of life.
Martina earned a bachelor's degree in Health Science and Nanotechnology. However, her journey took an unexpected turn when she began experiencing unexplained health issues. Despite seeing multiple specialists, she was repeatedly told that her test results were normal, leaving her feeling unheard and dismissed. Frustrated, she took matters into her own hands, searching for solutions—but relief remained elusive.
In January 2021, Martina reached her lowest point. Overwhelmed physically and emotionally, she attempted suicide. The weight of years of unanswered health struggles, combined with mental and emotional stress, left her feeling like there was no way out. Recognizing that she needed more than self-guided healing, Ben stepped in. As a mental health therapist, he understood that traditional psychiatric hospitalization would likely only provide temporary stabilization through medication, rather than addressing the root causes of her distress. Instead, he arranged for them to attend an intensive, month-long program out of state—one that focused on healing the mind, body, and spirit holistically.
That program changed everything. It was a year's worth of healing compressed into 30 days, and the results were nothing short of miraculous. From the depths of despair to a renewed sense of purpose, Martina found herself transformed. Now, she is dedicated to helping others break free from their own health battles and reclaim their lives.
